Is This Okay To Do Or Not?
Have you ever “googled” yourself?
Some people do this from time to time to see if anything they wouldn’t want a future employer to see about them comes up amongst other reasons. I have throughout the years done this and found 3 other people that use the same first and last name spelling that I use along with a few that are slightly off, Beeson instead of Beason.
Now, if these “cyber doppelgängers” happen to come off as flaming jackasses or somehow otherwise rude, stereotypical cartoons of a person, is it wrong to ask them to stop? I wouldn’t usually suggest that someone change what they say about themselves on the web for anyones sake but their own but theoretically it could affect me.
Example: Currently I’m trying to find a job. I put my website on my resume to highlight my hobbies and aptitude for new media and the internet as a whole. If someone were to google “Zach Beason” instead of typing in the address they would find ZachBeason.com, my twitter site, and my linkedin.com page the sixth result would be “Pairy Henis!”.
This is just not cool.
Any input is appreciated.
